The Site

The Aztec West is a two-storey office block constructed in the 1980s. The regeneration project will create the South West’s first Net Zero Carbon out-of-town office development in operation, in accordance with the UK Green Building Council’s framework approach.

The Challenge

To create permeable paved areas within the outside social seating areas and communal facilities.

The Solution

The use of flags in conjunction with 10mm SuDSFLOW spacers to attenuate rainfall and stabilise peak flows, thereby virtually eliminating flooding downstream. Podium decks incorporating SuDSFLOW spacers allows for efficient land use i.e., allowing mixed use development in this case a leisure area and restaurant.

• Accepts rainwater permeation over the entire area of use
• Specification no longer restricted to purpose made permeable block pavers
• Controlled water discharge
• Will help buildings fit harmoniously into the urban environment by covering unattractive areas like carparks
