SPACERS FOR PERMEABLE PAVING

Dundonald Primary School, Wimbledon

The Site

Merton Council required expansion of Dundonald Primary School to create extra places and accommodate the growing number of children in the local area. The project includes extending the school building with changes to the recreation ground including a new children’s public play area and replacement of the pavilion.

The Challenge

AECOM’s Strategic Flood Risk Assessment Final Report commissioned by London Boroughs of Croydon, Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth advised that permeable surfaces must be built into all new developments including Dundonald School and Park Pavilion.

The Solution

To use SuDSFLOW paving spacers create a consistent 10mm joints between pavers. By then filling the joints with aggregate the paved area will absorb rainfall at the same rate as it would on unpaved ground, by infiltrating directly into the suitably designed sub-grade.

Benefits

  • Accepts rainwater permeation over the entire area of use
  • Specification no longer restricted to purpose made permeable pavers
  • •Designed and manufactured to comply with sustainable drainage requirements covered by the Flood and Water Management Bill
  • SuDSFLOW spacers carry a 25-year guarantee
